How To Choose Good Coffee Beans - Tips To Pick The Right Flavour Beans

Coffee is purely one of the most popular beverages on the planet. Humans of different colors love coffee and drink it regularly, mostly for the stimulating effect produced by its caffeine. Coffee has become so well sought after that it is now grown in more than 70 countries on the planet.

It is believed that Coffee originated from the Horn of Arabia, where its seeds were also burned and prepared in a manner not so far from how it is being processed today. These early coffee seeds were thought to have originated from Ethiopia, and were spread by Somalis who traded it and helped it spread to the rest of the Middle East and parts of Europe.

Well, Humans today love coffee just as much as yesterday. Drinking Coffee in mild, measured quantities in a day is thought to be safe for adults. Its stimulant caffeine content is harmful to you only when you consume an excessive quantity of Coffee in a day, usually once you go above the threshold.

Interest in Coffee has been growing around the world lately, and several countries that weren’t producers have begun cultivating it locally. The sale of coffee around the world trails only the sale of petroleum, and it has become a major generator of foreign exchange earnings for developing economies like Brazil (which is regarded as one of the world’s leading coffee producers) and Kenya (which is renowned for the amount of work its farmers put into cultivating coffee and the quality of its coffee). Vietnam, Columbia and Honduras are some more developing nations that are among the world’s leading coffee-producers.

Coffee has been so popular around for over a thousand years! You wouldn’t know that though, with the way the average adult still craves his early morning cup of coffee. It is available and served in a variety of ways; hot, ice-cold, latte, espresso and canned coffee are just some of the ways coffee is served today.

COFFEE SHOPS OR HOME PREPARATION?

For the average adult in developed nations like the US and the UK, Coffee shops are the quickest (and easiest) way to get their early morning cup of coffee, particularly on the way to work. Regardless of what the shops charge for their cup of coffee, several people prefer to get their dose of caffeine from these shops, and it’s not unusual to see long queues at these shops in bustling cities like New York and London, particularly early in the morning.

Most coffee shops make great coffee, serve different varieties of it according to your specifications just alright, and serve snacks that you can have with your beverage. The problem is the lack of freedom that comes with opting to buy from coffee shops. They don’t all serve great coffee, and they prepare them from various seed types.

Lovers of coffee know that coffee can only taste as good as the quality of seeds it is brewed from allows and seeds are of varying quality. It takes brewing your own coffee at home or in the office to really know what it is you’re drinking; otherwise you’d just be taking the coffee shop’s words for it. To brew the kind of coffee that’s right for you, just how you want it, you have to brew it yourself to get desired results.  You just need to learn about the types of coffee beans and decide which is right for you.

MAJOR TYPES OF COFFEE BEANS

There are three major types of coffee beans, and they are Arabica, Liberia, and Robusta. Each type of beans produces its own unique flavors while undergoing harvesting.

Robusta

Robusta is loved by the Vietnamese who place much value on its strong taste, as it has relatively high caffeine content (2.7 percent which exceeds the 1.5% found in Arabica). It also cultivates well in lowlands and has a high yield. The only drawback is that Robusta’s flavor and taste isn’t as refined as Arabica’s, due to ts higher caffeine content

 Arabica

Arabica is believed to be the first kind of coffee to be cultivated in the world, and the majority of the coffee cultivated in the world today is Arabica. This specie of coffee has different variants , and produces different flavors depending on the variant it is. Growing Arabica is more complex than Robusta, so Arabica is more expensive to grow. What makes Arabica worth it though, is  the fact that it tastes better than Robusta

Liberica

Arabica and Robusta are the origins of most of the world’s best coffee. Liberica is regarded as the world’s rarest type of coffee. As its name implies, this specie of coffee originated from Liberia, and is known for its larger cherries. In addition to being rare, Liberica coffee also has a unique taste and deep flavors that are particularly great for making espressos.

Arabica and Robusta  are both most common types of coffee in the world. You might enjoy the high caffeine content of Robusta and find that this species is right for you. Others might prefer a better tasting species and go for Arabica instead. Tasting both is the only way to know where one belongs.

CAFFEINE CONTENT

Different kinds of coffee beans contain varying levels of stimulant Caffeine. Some would rather not have any caffeine, and choose De-Caffeinated blends instead. The way the coffee beans are roasted also determines the level of caffeine in it. Dark, light and medium roast all produce varying caffeine content in coffee. Light and medium beans have higher caffeine content than dark beans.

Coffee has become much more than a beverage in societies. It bonds people and helps uplift moods. To get great coffee whenever you want, we advise that you set up your own coffee brew at home and in the office.

You just have to try out the available coffee beans in your nearby grocery store, learn which works best for you, and stick with that. Experimenting with a coffee maker and French Press brewing methods are also advised. The experimentation can be halted once the perfect mix of coffee and brewing method has been achieved.
